Psychic self defence

In these modern times it is usually the last thing on most minds to worry about such things as psychic attack, although for anyone involved in any branch of the new age it is one of those subjects that simply can't be left while later or even left to chance. How often have you heard someone say oh yes psychic self-defence I really want to find out about that but I am really into crystals at the moment? Or tarot or Qabbalah or learning to play the bongos anything but faces the dreaded subject of psychic protection.

in reality this is the first thing anyone with an interest in the occult should learn about, although many occultists and new agers in particular are oblivious to the fact that psychic attack really does occur.

The amount of pre-meditated psychic attack is thankfully rare, although most people have heard the saying "thoughts are living things" it is actually the emotion

Behind the thought that does the damage.

You may now be thinking why do I need to protect myself? And do such things really exist? The answer to that question is a big yes, and the symptoms of psychic attack are quite often constant tiredness, nightmares little ailments that don't seem to get any better. Psychic attack usually occurs when the aura becomes weakened and develops all so through lack of sleep, poor diet often drinking and smoking too much and too little exercise, and so it is important not to neglect ones physical self whilst concentrating on the spiritual.

It is important to learn the correct way to breathe, as this will strengthen the aura, in fact in eastern thought it is believed that the length of the breath measures the size of the aura. This is just one method, which will help against psychic attack. Other methods include meditation, visualisations and ritual, although many find the idea of ritual a bit daunting it may be as complicated or as simple as you need. For those readers familiar with the Qabbalah I would suggest the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram, which will clear a large area of any negative vibrations this ritual is invaluable particularly before doing any psychic work. (Astral projection, divination, invocation or evocation e.t.a.) As this ritual helps prevent entity attachment. It can be performed both at the beginning and at the end of any psychic work. Another goody I would recommend is the middle pillar exercise which can be done more or less anywhere, even at the bus stop as it doesn't require any enormous movements unlike the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram, although the middle pillar does involve the correct intonation of Hebrew

Names of god and words of power it is very good for strengthening the aura and balancing the chakras if performed on a daily basis, both the middle pillar and the lesser banishing of the pentagram can be found in most good books on the Qabbalah or ritual magik. Visualisation exercises are also an important part of psychic protection as they are fairly simple and very effective. The easiest exercises are based on the colours of the rainbow and the associated chakric colours, it is quite simple when sensing a negative atmosphere to imagine oneself swathed in brilliant light of whatever colour most appeals to you, most people find a brilliant white light the most effective although gold light is just as good. If you find yourself under psychic attack the best thing to do is try and neutralise it by visualising your aura expanding and filling with the bright light of your choice, some people will suggest imagining yourself encased in mirrors which is a very good way of sending back any psychic attack but the problem with this method is, if the person you suspect of attacking you has any knowledge of the occult they will most likely know all about psychic protection and if both of you are protecting yourselves with imaginary mirrors the negative energy will keep bouncing backwards and forwards on the astral plane until it hits someone or something you care about, your husband, car, dog, timeshare villa in benidorm anything as long as it hits something and when it does you'll certainly know about it. So if you intend to use the mirror technique it would be wise to have a back up exercise such as visualising a sigil or protective symbol emblazoned on your forehead (pentagram, cross, Star of David or any personal power symbol.)

Most sensible occultists have a regular programme of protective exercises that can be performed on a daily basis besides back up techniques for emergencies.

It is totally up to you the amount of daily work you decide to do although a morning exercise and an evening exercise are usually the norm if you don't have the time for both I would suggest incorporating a psychic protection exercise into a night-time meditation as it is during the night that the average person is most vulnerable particularly about four hours after falling asleep, another good way to ensure psychic protection during the night is to invoke a spirit guardian or power animal to watch over you while you sleep ( see article in winter issue).

All being well you will never come across big bad black magicians at the local spiritualist church or supermarket you will however come up against people that don't like you very much from time to time and it is the thoughts and feelings of ordinary people that these exercises will help guard you against, even though you might think these exercises are a waste of time you will find them invaluable within the course of time ...until next time blessed be
