in ancient times the belief held by many shamanic societies that
gem stones (quartz crystal in particular ) held within them
potent magical allies, aboriginal tribes in particular believed
that during the holy mans initiation spirits would operate upon
him inserting magical crystals into his flesh, many aboriginal
shaman would actually eat meat containing quartz and drink water
that the crystals had been soaked in and in earlier times it was
a well known practice for the holy man to be physically operated
upon and crystals sewn into his flesh if he had so been
instructed in a dream or vision, this was believed to strengthen
his magical power. many aboriginal tribes believed that their
supreme god 'baiame` sat upon a throne of clear crystal which he
created from the light that radiated from his eyes, and when he
felt that mankind had forgotten about him he would throw pieces
of his throne down to earth to catch mans attention, and so when
pieces of quartz were found by wandering shaman they were regarded
as holy stones from the heavens. if a shaman had undergone the
ritual operation and insertion of crystals into his body, after
his death the stones would be removed and re inserted into the
flesh of his favourite and most promising student.
amongst the semang tribe of Malaysia the spirits that inhabited
quartz crystals were known as cenoi (pronounced chenoy) they were
regarded as helpful spirits and believed to be nephews of god
the tribal magician would contact these spirits through scrying
into the crystal to gain information in much the same way as
edward kelly and dr dee did in the middle ages to acquire the
enochian language (the language of angels).
with the onset of new age thought the belief in the power of
crystals has taken a turn for the better although present ideas
on the uses of crystals seems somewhat limited to healing and
calming, meditation and chakra balancing if we were to look a
little further we would no doubt rediscover some of the more
arcane uses for crystal energy, such as their uses in telepathy
and thought transference.
crystals if used correctly are natural thought amplifiers and so
it would be possible to send thoughts and feelings to someone at
distance while using a quartz crystal, an even better method
would be to select several crystals, one for each person you
intend to send psychic messages to and after physically and
psychically cleansing and blessing all of them give each one the
name of the person it will represent.
when you wish to send a message to that person hold the crystal
in your hand while visualising their face in the stone and
mentally tell him/her your message, quite often it is necessary
to also visualise the message in pictures and symbols as well as
in mental speech. as soon as you have sent your message put the
crystal away and forget about it, more often than not your
thoughts will be received,Calthough the subject will believe it to be a flash of intuition
on their part rather than something sent from a distance.
with these sort of exercises you will probably find the greatest
success with subjects who are already quite intuitive. other
methods of utilising crystal energy can be found in the realms of
creative visualisation and the creation of thought forms, this can
be done by gazing into the crystal while mentally playing out the
situation you wish to occur within your imagination and
visualising the end result taking place. do this exercise every
night for about five minutes while projecting your desires into
the crystal and it won't be long before your creative
visualisations start to manifest in the physical world.
as mentioned earlier the thoughts and feelings put into a crystal
will be amplified so that the end result will take place twice as
quickly than simply using mind power alone.
divinatory sleep or temple sleep is another technique much
employed by the ancients, for obtaining supernatural advice and
information through dreams, the shaman would go to a sacred place
such as a mountain top, cave or the grave of an ancestor while
mentally asking the ancestor spirits and gods to reveal the
answer to an important question in a dream, the shaman would then
attempt to sleep there over night hoping that the spirits would
reveal the answer to the question during the night, in ancient
Greece this technique was widely used in order to learn the will
of the gods, which involved the partitioner sleeping in the temple
of his patron deity overnight. this method can still be used
nowadays although it isnt necessary to go to such lengths as
sleeping in cemeteries or woodlands but can be done from your own
bed in comfort with just as much success. most people not in touch
with their spirituality have difficulty remembering their dreams
and so it is very important particularly if practicing divinatory
sleep to recall every aspect of our dreams, this is another area
where crystals can be very useful. in order to programme the mind
for dream recall simply hold your crystal for a few minutes
before going to sleep while concentrating on the question you
would like answered, then place the crystal under your pillow and
forget about your question as you drift off to sleep.
more evolved spirits such as higher plane contacts reveal
information through signs and symbols as this is the universal
language of the astral planes, lower spirits such as departed
friends and relatives reveal information through the spoken word
which can easily be understood but the majority of divinatory
dreams will be symbolic, and you will need to be able to
interpret the symbolism of dreams. if you want to be successful
in this ancient skill i would suggest keeping a record of your
dreams(the more you write down the more you will remember ) after
a while a pattern will emerge, when this happens you will be able
to start practising divinatory sleep. hundreds of different kinds
of crystals and gem stones are currently available in new age and
curio shops springing up all over the place, and many of you
reading this article will have made a large collection of various
healing stones and crystals, but the ones i have refered to
throughout this article are the clear quartz which have always
been regarded as holy by so many primitive cultures both for their
healing properties as well as representing the power of the
spiritworld (a piece of heaven here on earth).
with a little practice you could be enhancing your life through
working with crystals as the quartz can be programmed for just
about any task you could think of, in this article i have
